I bought this when it was $60. I feel like that’s a decent price for what you get. The four-gallon pail is pretty full, so there’s not a lot of wasted space. All the individual packets had decent expiration dates, mostly between 24-25 years out. The only exception was the packet of powdered cheese that is meant to go with the macaroni. That was 9.5 years. And the powdered milk was 19.5 years out (still a decent shelf life.) At this price, I should probably buy a few more before it shoots up.
I’m buying calories. I am buying calories to tuck away for use after all other calories have been consumed. I have this and know it is available. I don’t need to worry about it. It is there as part of my “calorie savings account”. Not worried about taste, not worried about anything other than calories- preferably a variety of flavors with a good ratio of macros (fat, protein, carbohydrates). Emergency food is what it is and what it will be. With increasing prices, today’s caloric purchase is a savings over tomorrow’s. So no, I haven’t tried it. I HAVE used other Augason Farms products for daily life use and have been pleased.

Rinse and repeat. Certain food items have at least a 25-year shelf life, some items are 10 years. No matter, I will eat it all 30 years down the line if need be. Foods don’t just go “bad”. The date is not a safety issue. It is a quality issue. So maybe the smell, taste, texture, or vitamin content alters a little over time, but it is still edible. Calories are still there.

Have a “working pantry” that you grab from on a daily basis, then have a “storage pantry” that works as your own in-home “store”. It also serves as your emergency preps.
