Tips To Have A Great Camping Trip

Many people wish they knew how to have the best time when they go camping. Yet there isn’t a lot of knowledge on the internet about how to enjoy yourself while you camp. Lucky for you this is one of the few places where you can figure out how to get the most out of your camping experience.

When packing for your camping trip, make sure to pack either a pair of flip flops or water shoes. These will come in handy in and around the campground. For instance, if you are staying in a campground that has bathroom facilities and you plan on taking a shower, you need to wear shoes in the shower to protect your feet from foot fungus.

When going camping, make sure that you bring the right sleeping bag with you. Some sleeping bags will not keep you warm when the temperature dips below 40 degrees, while others will have you sweating all night long because they are too hot. The label on the bag usually will tell you what kinds of temperatures are appropriate for each sleeping bag.

Try to fit swimming into your schedule in some way. You are probably going to miss the shower you have at home while camping. The cool water at a beach or pool will help you feel clean and refreshed.

Dryer lint makes surprisingly good kindling for starting campfires. Collect the lint in your dryer and store it in a bag a few weeks before you go camping to prepare for this. Simply use a plastic grocery sack to collect each new crop of lint. The morning of your departure, all you need to do is grab the bag and depart, kindling sorted!

Bring your cellphone with you when you go camping. Even if you are serious about roughing it, cell phones are still very useful in emergencies and should not be left at home. A cell phone is no longer a hobby, and when you go camping it can help you reach police and emergency personnel–bring it.

Create a proper emergency kit if you plan to go camping. You want to bring a kit for any situation that might arise during your camping trip. Species specific antivenom should be packed to protect against animal bites.

When you go camping, be sure to have a few activities in mind other than just… “camping”. The camping experience is enriched by hiking, swimming, exploring and things like that. Be sure to engage in some of these other activities so that you have the fullest camping experience you’ve ever had.

Purchase a multi-use tool to store with your camping gear. This tool should include an axe, hammer and saw. The multi-use tool will come in handy when you are searching for firewood, clearing a trail and setting up your tent. When purchasing a multi-use tool, get one of the good quality one for years of enjoyment.

Make sure you have cover in case of rain. When you’re out in the woods, a rainstorm can be wet, cold and uncomfortable. Make sure you have some kind of protection against the rain, whether it be a tent, cabin or lean-to. In a pinch, you can use a garbage bag as a poncho!

If you are camping deep in the woods, take extra care with your food. You can wrap up leftovers well, keep them away from the tent and use other precautions to protect yourself. This can prevent an attack.

Take the time to get a map and to get to know the land. This will help prevent you from getting lost, and to help you figure out how to navigate around your camping grounds throughout your entire trip. This is a good idea to help save time and worry for you.

Focus on safety during your trip. Educate yourself and the other members of your party about what you should do if you come across a wild animal. Learn as much as you can about bears and what to do in the event of an attack. Refresh your memory on snakebites. Hopefully, you won’t have to use this knowledge, but it is important that it is available to you.

As long as you try your best to follow the advice that was outlined from this article everything should work out for you while you go camping. Make sure you try your best to go camping because it is a once in a lifetime experience for you, and it will help you relax.
