Harvesting Jerusalem artichokes hey Everybody it's Michael with asymmetrical Preparedness and that's exactly what we Did today this bed right here is our Jerusalem artichoke bed Um if you do not know what they are or Watch or search it in my videos I talk About drew some artichokes in many Videos uh very high in protein they're a Tuber like a potato low on the glycemic Index so it's good for diabetics but it Can cause you gas there are invasive Species drought resistant native North America check them out plant them grow Them but anyway I have that bed right There full of them and I put them in a Bed because they're an invasive species But I also See our other raised beds I also put Them over here as part of my gorilla Gardening area see those dead stalks Right there right next to the road those Are Jerusalem artichokes in this area Here so we have two buckets I'll show You in just a sec that we are going to Plant one of them all over here we're Just going to add more to this area and It'll just be this Gorilla garden Jerusalem artichoke area I'm not Harvesting them I am leaving them alone I'm just letting them do their thing Over the years they'll probably take Over this whole area and I'm going to Let them because then I know that's part
Of my emergency food storage so on to The buckets Like I said onto the buckets so those Are the buckets not huge buckets but we Got two full so that one will be for Planting this one will be for use Yeah we'll probably we'll end up using These Um I don't really Like using them too much Um because I want as many of these in The ground as possible growing so that Over the years I will grow exponentially More food and I also give these away to Other people to plant in any area they Can find and then kind of Mark it Um Mark the locations and let everybody Else know so we know where all these Little gorilla gardening spots are great Idea grow Jerusalem artichokes Gorilla Garden with them use them enjoy them and Just have the peace of mind that food is Out there in the ground whenever you Need it that's the Native Americans used To do they planted these along their Trade routes their hunting routes their Traveling routes so they knew they would Have food whenever they needed it so get Out and do the things I love you guys Have a wonderful day and blessings to You and yours
